About me
Dr. Andrew Kulak is a cybersecurity consultant and educator who works at the intersection of developing secure systems and the people who run them. As an Associate at Triple Point Security, he has spent nearly a decade advising government and commercial clients on cybersecurity governance, DevSecOps, and cloud and AI security architecture.
Alongside that practice, he leads the firm's cybersecurity internship program, a regional talent pipeline that has grown from four interns in 2019 to more than thirty, built with partners including Virginia Tech, Radford University, the Commonwealth Cyber Initiative, the U.S. Cyber Range, and AWS. This innovative and growing program was recognized in 2026 among Virginia's top employers for interns by the Virginia Talent and Opportunity Partnership (V-TOP) and the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV).
Dr. Kulak's approach to developing cybersecurity talent reflects an unusual background: a doctorate in rhetoric and earlier training in Classics, plus research on algorithmic trust and AI explainability that predated the industry's current focus by years. He has taught cybersecurity, data science, writing, and design at Virginia Tech and serves on the industry advisory board of the CyberSMART NSF interdisciplinary cybersecurity research center. A returning Emerging Tech Conference speaker, he argues that curiosity, critical thinking, and human judgment are the core competencies a resilient tech workforce is built on. He appears regularly in conferences and panels across Virginia.
